August and the final summer month has arrived surprisingly swiftly with a darling fat-quarter bundle by our newest guest Susanna.
The Guest
Susanna wanted to put together a bundle that would suit a baby so here’s one in bright colours for any baby to snuggle in.
We had happened to watch the same episode of the incredibly interesting and knowledgeable documentary series Babies on Netflix, in which there was talk on baby’s eyesight. Apparently their vision is blurry until eyes develop, so they can’t see faces clearly even when a person is rather close to baby’s face. In order to stimulate the sense of sight, bright colours are therefore helpful. Throw out your own design sense including a muted colour palette, in other words! 😀
Susanna comes from Finland and is rather new to sewing, so she’s happy to tackle a small quilt size suitable for a tiny bed, stroller or to sleep and play on. She’s also asked me to design some beginner patterns for new quilters, and it took me back to the drawing board to remember all the things felt as tricky for newbies. Stay tuned for news on NM Patterns, but now moving on to Susanna’s bundle!
The Bundle
Susanna was asked to pick six prints from our current selection and she pulled a bright and cheerful bundle of almost the full rainbow. The happy mix is bound to please kids, too.
Here it is without text on top:
Starting from yellow, clockwise:
- Twinkle Lights designed by Dana Willard for Art Gallery Fabrics
- Ripples Coral designed by Bari J. for Art Gallery Fabrics
- Mariachi Pink designed by Stacy Peterson for Blend Fabrics
- Star Bright Mauve by Andover Fabrics
- Analog IIII Crux by AGF Studio for Art Gallery Fabrics
- Basking Buds Jade designed by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics
The brighter the better, at least when it comes to kids and their development apparently.
Get Your Own
