The dark surface treatment allows glued surfaces to run smoothly past the needle without sticking to it dangerously. This is relevant in sewing, where glued tape may be used in seams or as stabiliser, and quilting, if you prefer spray basting over safety pins.
The eye of the needle is also extra large. Size 70 Super eye corresponds to size 90 normal Universal eye. Needle suits a wide range of fabrics, denim includes.
