Wonderfully abstract Clay is Carolyn Friedlander’s pattern for hand sewing.

“Clay is an explosion of color in a beginner-friendly appliqué project. Regardless of skill level, anyone can explore their own composition through color, shape and layers.”

PATTERN:
• Sizes: 62″ x 62″ (throw), 40″ x 40″ (wall) and 22″ x 22″ (mini).
• Fabrics: Pattern works well with 5″ charm squares and smaller pieces than those. Carolyn has used Essex Yarn Dyed fabric in colour Lingerie for quilt-top background.
• Technique: Primarily needle-turn appliqué, but raw-edge appliqué works as well.
• Level: beginner.
