TIPS:
• Freezer paper can be used in appliqué in which you draw a mirror image of the desired shape on the paper side, cut the template out and finally iron it onto the right side of fabric.
• The laminated coating wears off slowly, so you can use the same template many times. Write notes on the paper side if taking a break, so you’ll know where a particular piece belongs later on.
• If you use the paper in freezer-paper piecing, remember to preshrink it by ironing against an ironing board to avoid having the first fabric piece be slightly larger than those that follow.
• It’s absolutely worth it to get to know freezer-paper piecing, since it as a technique in many cases can replace foundation-paper piecing entirely, and thereby save paper on a massive scale. Tara Faughnan and Rebecca Bryan are two well-known designers, who favour this option.
