Window 17 opens something unexpectedly sweet: fabric trees in the most simple imaginable style. Keep reading for a link to the free pattern and our fabric tips!
The Pattern
This free pattern by Art Gallery fabrics allows you to create fabric trees in three different sizes, so you could make a whole forest of your suitable scraps. Or why not put your most precious collection to use when sewing up a set, which can sit out all year?
In any case, find the Enchanted Forest here! The trees range from 4″ x 5″ to 6″ x 10,5″ in size, so nothing enormous, but of course you could print the templates larger, too.
Fabric Suggestions
For green trees in snowfall, I suggest Shibori Jardin by Bari J for Art Gallery Fabrics.
For white trees in a fairytale landscape, I suggest Menagerie Unicorn from Sun Print 2020 by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics.
Note that the construction from two template pieces allows you to use directional prints in a reasonably vertical way. They wouldn’t work as well if the tree was made from one piece shaped into a cone by only one seam.
